Almost Maine Summary
Almost, Maine is a play by John Cariani that explores love and loss in the mythical town of Almost, Maine. The play is set on a cold, clear night in the middle of winter, when the residents of Almost are falling in and out of love in unusual ways.
The play is a series of nine short plays, loosely connected tales about love, each with a compelling couple at its center. The play is witty, romantic, unsentimental, and has a touch of good-natured magic realism. It's structured as 8 vignettes with a prologue, interlogue, and epilogue.
The play premiered at the Portland Stage Company in Portland, Maine in 2004, where it broke box office records and garnered critical acclaim.
